Biography/History

Thomas G. Nardelli graduated from Riverside High School in Milwaukee. He spent 27 years in the US Army Reserve’s 452nd General Hospital Division and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. Prior to becoming an alderman, Nardelli was a traffic reporter for a local radio station and a shoe salesman. He was active in the Italian Community Center including serving as its president.

In 2002 and 2004 Nardelli unsuccessfully ran for Milwaukee County Executive and City of Milwaukee Mayor, respectively. He retired from his Aldermanic term in 2004. In 2007 he was hired by Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker as his chief of Staff. Nardelli moved to Madison, Wisconsin when Walker was elected Governor. Scope and Content Note

This collection contains records from the City of Milwaukee’s 15th District Alderman, Thomas G. Nardelli. The original subject headings from aldermanic staff have been kept intact as much as possible. This collection includes correspondence, reports, subject files, clippings, and publications. Some of the subjects include materials regarding the Brewers Stadium (Miller Park), Crime Statistics, Hwy 100 / Hwy 45 Interchange Study, Mayor John Norquist, Milwaukee’s redistricting plans/proposals and the 1993 Milwaukee water crisis / cryptosporidium outbreak. The crisis began in spring of 1993 when residents began getting sick and cryptosporidium was discovered in the water supply. The early document, outside of his aldermanic tenure, dated 1977 is under Granville Presbyterian Church and is a copy of an earlier resolution regarding landmark status.

Arrangement of the Materials
