Biography/History

Daniel Schramm earned an Associate’s Degree from University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point where he attended from 1960-1962. He joined the Menomonee Falls Police Department in 1965 and retired as Captain in 1992. He was elected as the City of Milwaukee's 5th District Alderman and he held this position until 2000.

Scope and Content Note

This collection contains records from the City of Milwaukee’s 5th District Alderman, Daniel F. Schramm. The collection contains correspondence, reports, subject files, clippings, photographs and publications. Most materials are regarding the Milwaukee Police Department and the 1993 Milwaukee water crisis / cryptosporidium outbreak. The crisis began in spring of 1993 when residents began getting sick and cryptosporidium was discovered in the water supply. There are also some typed copies of Schramm’s speeches and materials on the Miller Park Stadium.
