Biography/History

E. Fay Anderson was born July 10, 1935 and grew up in Rob Roy, Arkansas, one of 10 children. She married and had four children, Elizabeth, Penelope, Lorraine, and Earl. Anderson’s first husband died in the early 1960s. Anderson came to Milwaukee in 1971, after meeting former State Legislator Dismas Becker in Kansas City, Kansas. They married in 1975 and adopted a child, Robert Anthony Becker. Anderson was elected to the newly formed 17th Aldermanic District in 1992. Prior to her election, she was a public policy consultant.

During her time in office, Anderson worked to reduce the use of drugs, especially crack, in her district. She also worked to reduce joblessness and crime, and improve the community’s relationship with the police. Anderson also sought to increase economic development for her district. In 1996, Anderson was defeated by Alderman Willie Hines. Anderson died 24 November 2013 of Alzheimer’s disease at the age of 78.
