Programs for amateur and professional theatrical productions, primarily documenting New York City, Chicago, and Wisconsin. Programs formerly collected as part of this collection for opera, ballet, and musical concerts have been transferred to the Mills Music Library, while playbills documenting theatrical productions in Milwaukee have been donated to a more complete file on this topic maintained by the Milwaukee Public Library.
Domestic playbills are arranged in two categories: New York City and the remainder of the United States which is subdivided alphabetically by state. When the quantity warranted, separate files were created for cities. Foreign playbills are arranged alphabetically by country. Within each of the domestic and foreign categories, the playbills are arranged alphabetically by production title.
