Wisconsin Arts Board: Minutes, 1973-1992

Scope and Content Note

The materials in this record series document the policymaking decisions of the Wisconsin Arts Board. The Board is charged with promoting artistic and cultural activities throughout the state of Wisconsin, its most potent and visible weapon in this endeavor being the distribution of grant money to assorted groups and individuals. Though substantial material relating to specific grant recipients is found not here but in Series 2367: Funded grant files, the minutes briefly record matters relating to grant distribution and/or progress when such matters were brought before the Board for consideration. The full Board meeting minutes also cover other arts programming projects with which the Board was involved.

The minutes of various Board committees are also included. Committees include, but may not be limited to: Arts Challenge Initiative, Percent for Art and other specific program committees; Budget; Education; Executive; and Planning. Matters covered in these committee minutes range from decision making about various Board programs to more routine organizational concerns.
