Abstract:
Records of Ralph Hovind, director of the Bureau of Commercial Recreation, together with records of his earlier assignments as director of the Recreation and Resource Division and recreation specialist for the Department of Resource Development, together with papers of Harold C. Jordahl who preceded Hovind as recreation specialist. Included are correspondence, memoranda, and background information pertaining to a statewide recreation resource planning. Of special interest are the background files for the development of the south shore of Lake Superior. Because of Hovind's responsibility as secretary to the State Recreation Committee there are files of minutes, meeting materials, and information on budgets and legislation pertaining to the committee's oversight of the Outdoor Recreation Act Program (ORAP). David Carley and Frank Zeidler are frequent correspondents for the earlier records; the later records primarily consist of replies to citizen inquiries.
