Records concerning an association established about 1911 funded by annual dues of its members comprised of county highway commissioners as active members and Wisconsin Highway Commissioners and their staff as associate members. The association's purpose is to promote communication between county and state officials and plan for highway development in Wisconsin. Biannual meetings referred to as “Road Schools” provide a venue for the discussion of highway issues and educational opportunities for county highway commissioners. The association is presently known as the Highway Commissioners and Committee Men's Association. The records of the meetings are in chronological order and include programs, minutes, correspondence, expense reports and newspaper clippings relating to individual meetings. The official records were held and maintained by the Wisconsin Highway Commission. English
