Abstract:
Newspaper clippings collected by the War History Commission to document Wisconsin's contribution to World War I and to use as source material for published histories of the war. Some clippings are available only on microfilm and some are available as transcriptions. One box contains transcripts about the Archangel Campaign presumably related to an unpublished history by J.G. Gregory. Several boxes contain indexed biographical clippings about individual Wisconsin soldiers and their wartime experiences, and their letters in home town newspapers. In addition there is information on camp life, Gold Star Mothers, the loyalty issue, and Wisconsin army units, It is not known why some biographical clipping files post date the Commission's existence.
