Abstract:
Records, mainly 1929-1949, including minutes and agendas, correspondence, memoranda, reports, floor plans, clippings, photographs, policies, and other subject files concerning the construction and operation of the State Office Building at 1 West Wilson Street. The file was prepared by Arthur F. Stofen, clerk and stenographic reporter, 1929-1938, and the commission's first and only director, 1938-1949. The records include a 1921 report to the Legislature prepared by State Architect Arthur Peabody about the need for a state office building and recommendations on locations for the building.
