Abstract:
Official proclamations, 1837-1957, and 1979-1986, issued by the Governor and deposited in the office of the Secretary of State where the state seal was affixed; pertaining to such matters as days of celebration, rewards for capture of criminals, days of special elections, and other matters. This series is a consolidation of proclamations received from the Governor's Office and from the Secretary of State. A group of special proclamations memorializes public officers who died; files here on Matthew Carpenter, Lucius Fairchild, and C.C. Washburn also contain correspondence on their funerals and other matters. Only a few proclamations are present from pre-1866.
