Democratic Party (Pierce County, Wis.) Records, 1956-1985

Scope and Content Note

The records of the Pierce County Democratic Party are organized in chronological segments. Files for 1956-1959 consist of bound minutes of monthly meetings and other records bound with them. These include labeled and mounted newspaper clippings concerning the Pierce County Democratic unit and its activities; scattered correspondence from national, state, and local officials to the unit's secretary and members, and news releases submitted to the local press by the county unit. Much of this correspondence is mimeographed and offers suggestions, encouragement, and congratulations.

Files for 1959-1967 consist of minutes, resolutions, roll calls, correspondence, and miscellaneous items, all in one chronological arrangement. One separate envelope contains examples of campaign materials -- such as throwaways, brochures, stickers, pins, newsletters, and the like, used by the Pierce County Democratic Party in the Presidential Campaign of 1960.

Later additions to the collection are files for 1967-1980 and 1983-1985. These include campaign materials, minutes and correspondence, financial records, membership lists, and other related materials and are organized alphabetically by topic or type of material.
