Scope and Content Note

The records consist of seven series: ADMINISTRATIVE RECORDS, CONTRACTS, WAGE AND PIECE RATES, GRIEVANCES, ADDITIONAL LABOR ISSUES, FINANCIAL RECORDS, and COMPANY MATERIAL.

ADMINISTATIVE RECORDS (1934-1994) include constitutions and bylaws, meeting minutes, steward's materials, union newsletter, news clippings concerning plant closing, correspondence, election materials, and miscellaneous materials. Minutes make up the bulk of this series. Regular and executive meeting minutes span from 1934 to 1991, with minor intermittent gaps. Scattered and brief coverage of bargaining committee and shipping department are also included.

CONTRACTS (1941-1992) contain arbitration records, contract negotiation materials, and the contracts.

WAGE AND PIECE RATES (1969-1993) are a collection strength and contain permanent rate notifications, and rate books of the plant. The rate books for 1969-1971, 1980, and 1990-1993 are complete and organized by department.

GRIEVANCES (1964-1993) form an important part of the collection, including corrective/progressive disciplinary records, employee complaint forms, employee grievance forms, and individual employee agreements.

ADDITIONAL LABOR ISSUES (1946-1993) touch on health and pension plans, as well as seniority matters. In addition, a file on bumping rights from the sewing plant's 1993 closing is included.

FINANCIAL RECORDS (1956-1983) include monthly cash books, 1956-1983, and scattered audit reports and tax forms.

COMPANY MATERIAL (1940-1992) contains scattered corporate records of particular relevance to the union. The series includes company policies and procedures, departmental operation records, and miscellaneous materials.
