William W. Bartlett negative collection, consisting of copy and original glass plate, nitrate, paper, and acetate negatives, circa 1850-1937, including William W. Bartlett family photographs and trips to Louisiana and Cripple Creek, Colorado; and extensive views of logging, lumber, and sawmill operations in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and northern Wisconsin. Other images include churches, schools, government, residences, and other buildings in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and construction of the Eau Claire Public Library, 1903. Also included are copy photographs of etchings, paintings, and photographs (made 1783-1880) of Civil War military figures, Native Americans, and others in U.S. and Wisconsin history.
Negative descriptions were transcribed from labels on the negative sleeves, and reflect terminology in use at that time.
