Abstract:
Fragmentary papers of William A. Draheim, a small businessman, veteran, and Republican state senator from Neenah, Wisconsin. First elected to the Senate in 1950 as a Democrat, Draheim became a Republican in 1953, but throughout the remainder of his political career he maintained a reputation for his independent position within the Republican Party. Included are chronologically-arranged clippings available only on microfilm (1938, 1948-1970), speeches and press releases (1951-1968), miscellaneous correspondence, and subject files. The clippings focus on Draheim, with a large portion concerning his tenure as chair of the Joint Finance Committee, 1959-1961. Original photographs removed from the scrapbooks are available in the Visual Materials Archive in Madison.

Note:

Portions of this collection are available only on microfilm.
