Abstract:
Papers, 1934-1949, of Eugene P. Connolly, a chairman of the Manhattan Committee of the American Labor Party, consisting of microfilmed scrapbooks of clippings and campaign materials. The chronologically arranged scrapbooks trace Connolly’s career as organizer for the anti-Tammany Knickerbocker Democratic Club (1934) and the American Labor Party (1936) and subsequent activities as party leader, candidate, and city councilman. Participation in the Citizens Committee to Aid Striking Seamen and the Transit Workers Union is also documented. Other materials include party audits, correspondence, and political ephemera. One item shows Connolly with John L. Lewis.
