Abstract:
Legislative papers of Delmar DeLong, a Wisconsin Republican assemblyman of the 44th district, representing Walworth and Rock Counties from 1973 to 1982. As a state legislator, DeLong was a member of the Education, Rail Service Advisory, Retirement Research, Rules, and Taxation committees. During his term in office, he was also the Minority Caucus Chairman from 1975 to 1982. The bulk of the collection (1973-1978), consists of subject files which provide cursory background information on a wide variety of legislative issues and consist of memoranda, published materials, and correspondence. The only subject files with comprehensive coverage correspond with DeLong's committee involvements pertaining to education, retirement research, and taxation issues. Also included is extensive documentation of Wisconsin's Republican Party and of issues relating to Walworth and Rock Counties as well as constituent correspondence.
