Papers of Walter A. Morton, an economics professor who taught at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 1926-1969, and who wrote economic analysis of tariffs, taxes, unemployment insurance, and British finance in the period leading up to World War II. The papers document Morton’s professional career, especially the politics and projects of the economics department at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, but also Morton’s lectures at other colleges, student activism at UW-Madison and Morton’s defense of professorial academic freedom.
