Abstract:
Professional and personal papers of civil engineer Joseph T. Dodge related to railroad building in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Montana. Also present are other letters, notebooks, voucher records, ledgers, bills, bridge elevations, sketch maps, and grading contracts, 1857-1894. Dodge worked on construction for the Milwaukee and Mississippi, Milwaukee and St. Paul, St. Paul and Chicago, Northern Pacific, St. Paul and Pacific, St. Paul and Duluth, Montana Central, and Hastings and Dakota railroads, and the Minnesota Railway Construction Company. Prominent correspondents include Frederick Billings and Russell Sage.
