Abstract:
Records of the Postal Union of Manhattan-Bronx Clerks. Included is a manuscript history of reform effort within the National Federation of Post Office Clerks, 1940s to 1958; correspondence relating to the subsequent disaffiliation of a portion of Local 10 of New York City and the affiliation as the Postal Union of Manhattan-Bronx Clerks with the newly formed National Postal Clerks Union, 1958-1959; correspondence concerning a court case pursued by the NPCU seeking to reinstate fired employee Walter Noreen, 1959-1960; and related union news clippings and printed matter, 1958-1960. Correspondents include J. Cline House, president of the NFPOC; George Meany, president of the AFL; and several members of Congress such as Hubert Humphrey, Jacob Javits, and Kenneth Keating.
