Abstract:
Film showings detailed by exchange and by circuit. Summarized are film titles, date played, guaranteed percentage or flat rate, number of days played, gross income, and earnings after expenses. Contract entries were made before a film was shown, while playing dates were added after the showing to indicate that films were “cut off.” In 1948 the ledger form of record keeping was apparently replaced by control cut-off forms. Holdings for this later period appear complete, while the earlier ledgers are somewhat miscellaneous in coverage, including data from theaters in Kentucky, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, and West Virginia only. At the end of the registers are three separate files of cut-offs for Guilty of Treason, Red Shoes, and Sundowners. For the early ledgers the information also includes town populations, the exhibitor's name, production contract date, contract prices, production name, and other information for both feature films and short subjects.

Note:

Forms part of the United Artists Corporation collection.
