Abstract:

Records, 1924-1956, of the Dodgeville Mining Company (1939-1955), co-owned by Mansfield Richards and the mine managers, James J. MacDonald and Charles W. Singer, and of several other mining companies which were operating earlier in the same region including the Badger Mining Company (1924-1932), Wisconsin Zinc Flotation Company (1935-1937), Rule Mining Company (1935-1943), and the Vinegar Hill Zinc Company. The collection documents mining activities in southwestern Wisconsin primarily at the Simpson mine, the Dodgeville mine, and the Vinegar Hill mine; the company's financial and business operations; employees' benefits and wages; the company's Dodgeville Flotation Company affairs; and company interactions with the federal government regarding war-time supply and manpower management.
