Abstract:
Record of civil and criminal actions before justices of the peace. Information may include summary of complaint, defendant's plea, justice's decision, and record of files, costs and jail sentences. Cases include violations of city ordinances, petty larceny, and assault and battery. Volume 1 has newspaper clippings pasted over the first few pages; volume 3 has Justice Ames' reaction to the outbreak of the Civil War written on the back cover; volume 30 consists of ordinance violation cases heard by Justice John Slater, 1900-1901 and Slater's record as a County Court Commissioner, 1902-1919.
