Abstract:
Papers, mainly 1950-1982, of Norbert S. Hill Sr., a leader of the Oneida Tribe of Wisconsin and World War II veteran, documenting his career and personal life. The family papers include articles, correspondence, speeches, and photographs, as well as alumni information for Hill and his mother, Dr. Lillie Rosa Minoka-Hill, one of the first Native American women to earn a physician's license. The professional papers reflect his leadership roles within the Oneida Tribe of Indians of Wisconsin, the Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council, and other organizations relating to his efforts in health, education, housing, and economic development. The papers consist of a tribal history, enrollment procedures, agendas and minutes, agreements, progress reports, tribal corporate records, housing authority materials, programs, Oneida industrial development, election materials, forms, correspondence, memos, and copies of historic lawsuits and legislation.
