Abstract:
Dockets recording actions taken in civil and criminal cases brought before the Justice of the Peace indicating the names of the plaintiff and defendant, and in some cases that of their attorneys, the complaint entered, dates of various actions and proceedings, court costs, and in some instances, a short summary of the case and verdict given. Some volumes also contain records of marriages performed by the Justice of the Peace. Volumes 1-5 are the Justice Dockets for the Town of Menomonie. The series also includes the records of the City of Menomonie Municipal Court, 1889-circa 1891. The volumes are in order roughly by year although there is some overlap between volumes because of the concurrent use of more than one docket; however there are also gaps spanning the years 1916-1933 and 1942-1956. Most volumes are indexed alphabetically by the last name of the plaintiff.
