Abstract:
The Crawford Young papers document the scholarly and professional activities of Merwin Crawford Young, professor emeritus of political science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Young was first made a full professor in 1963 and became the director of the African Studies program. Young's work centered around democracy and state formation in post-colonial Africa. His 1976 work: "The Politics of Cultural Pluralism" was awarded several academic prizes and remains influential in the field. Young retired in 2001.
