The Lands We Share initiative, part of
the Wisconsin Farms Oral History Project, was a grant-funded oral history collaboration
between faculty and students from five University of Wisconsin campuses (UW-Whitewater,
UW-Oshkosh, UW-Milwaukee, UW-Eau Claire, and UW-Madison) that ran from August 2017 to March
2019. The iniative collected and exhibited stories, histories, artifacts, images and sounds
from five culturally and regionally distinct farm sites in Wisconsin. The project, led by
Troy Reeves (Head, Oral History Program, UW-Madison Archives) and James Levy (Associate
Professor and Director of Public History Program, UW-Whitewater History Department), ran a
public dialogue tour that focused on the intersection of farming, land, ethnic culture, and
history in Wisconsin, and resulted in a traveling exhibition. English .
