Scope and Contents

This collection includes meeting minutes, scrapbooks, account books, correspondence, pamphlets, brochures, posters and other material. These works provide researchers with a comprehensive body of material on the UW-YWCA and their influence on the UW-Madison campus and the Madison community. It gives insight into the experience of women students both within the organization and at the university in general. While the material was collected from Madison, Wisconsin, it provides context to national political and social movements such as the Vietnam War, 1955-1975, the Black Campus Movement, Women's Liberation, and the Women's Movement.

The University of Wisconsin YWCA Records are housed in 14 record boxes and oversized boxes. It is arranged into six series: Association Leadership and Membership, Finance, Meeting Minutes, National and Regional Associations, Programs and Projects, and Scrapbooks. Association Leadership and Membership is arranged into three subseries: National YWCA, Geneva Region, and Conferences. Material is arranged by subject and chronologically within series and subseries.
