Abstract:
Papers of Milwaukee-area artists Ruth Grotenrath and Schomer Lichtner. Grotenrath is well known for her dramatic, colorful floral images while Lichtner is best known for his whimsical and cheerful paintings and sculptures of cows and ballerinas. While the collection documents the work and lives of both artists, the bulk of the collection documents Lichtner's work, as he was more prolific and outlived his wife by 18 years.
