Scope and Content Note: This series documents Stearns' service on the Environmental Studies Committee, which was established in the late 1960's to develop the environmental studies program. Stearns helped found the committee and led a task force to examine course outlines in more depth. Records consist of mainly correspondence, class outlines, and short reports. This series also documents Stearns work preparing Impact Assessment Reports for the Department of Planning and Construction. These reports study the potential environmental impact of proposed building and construction projects. Stearns was involved with projects relating to the Blue Hole, a proposed parking site; the Physical Education Building; the Cultural and Technological Studies Program; and the Life Science Building.
