This collection contains records from the City of Milwaukee’s 3rd District
Alderwoman, Larraine McNamara-McGraw. The bulk of the records date from her
Aldermanic tenure, 1989-1996, although some have been retained from her predecessor,
Sandra Hoeh-Lyon. Original subject headings existed on folders and have been kept
intact as much as possible. This collection includes reports, statistics,
publications, correspondence, handwritten notes, drafts of ordinances, newspaper
clippings and articles. Some of the largest subjects include research and public
reaction to renovation/construction proposals by Columbia Hospital and Marquette
University’s Avenue Commons project, documents on Milwaukee’s 1990 redistricting,
and discussions regarding fellow Alderman Michael McGee. There are also numerous
folders related to guns, a local gun club and gun laws/legislation.
