The collection primarily contains Smith's research materials, unpublished works,
correspondence, and other various writings. In addition, there are many copies of
archival documents from his research on Isaiah Bowman. There are special
concentrations on Smith's work in Urban Geography, with articles, newspaper
clippings, and ephemera from New York City from the 1980s to 2012.
