The collection consists of Scott Feldmeyer's papers documenting
his work as a reporter in the Milwaukee area. The centerpiece of the collection is audio and
videotaped interviews and broadcasts on issues pertaining to Milwaukee in the 1980's and
early 1990's, including the trial of mob boss Frank Balistreri on charges of gambling and
money laundering; Lawrencia Bembenek's escape from prison, flight to Canada, and
extradition; the Jeffrey Dahmer serial killings and trial; and Michael McGee and corruption
in Milwaukee City and County Government. In addition to the audio and videotapes, the
collection contains correspondence, photographs, materials relating to a variety of honors
and awards Feldmeyer received, copies of columns he wrote in the late 1990's for the City Edition and The Paper, and a
wide selection of journalism memorabilia. English

Biography/History
Scott Feldmeyer was a native of the south side of Milwaukee, graduating from Notre Dame
High School and then from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a degree in journalism.
He began his career in 1975 as a copy kid at the Milwaukee
Sentinel. Over the next 25 years he worked at many of the major news outlets in
Milwaukee including WITI-TV (Channel 6), WISN-TV (Channel 12), the Milwaukee Journal, the Shepherd Express-Metro,
City Edition, The Paper, as
well as a short stint for the National Enquirer.
Feldmeyer was the recipient of many local awards in journalism, including reporter of the
year. He was an active member in the Milwaukee Press Club and served as president in 1984.
In October of 1992 Feldmeyer fell from a retaining wall near his property in Milwaukee and
broke his back. He was paralyzed from the waist down and had limited use of his arms and
hands.
After his recovery a friend introduced him to the internet and he started working from his
home, looking for information about Milwaukee and writing articles for online newspapers. He
wrote for the Shepherd Express and City Edition/The Paper from 1995 until his death in 2000.
