Abstract: Records of a club founded in 1893 “to promote the moral and intellectual development of its members.” Originally called the Women's Club of West Superior (often referred to as the Ladies' Literary Club), the organization changed its name to the Superior Woman's Club in 1926. Until World War II the members focused on projects, issues, and topics traditionally associated with the woman's sphere: home hygiene, domestic economy, infant care, etc. After the war years, club activities focused on major projects to benefit the community, such as founding the Djordje Kostic Institute for Audio-Linguistic Studies. The collection includes minutes, financial and membership records, extensive scrapbooks documenting club activities and community improvement projects, photographs, historical information, the constitution and bylaws, and incorporation information. There are also brief records of the Djordje Kostic Institute.

Abstract: Racine County Home and Community Education was founded in 1947 as the Home Demonstration Council, a national women’s program of the University of Wisconsin Extension supported by the United States Department of Agriculture. In 1994, the state withdrew from the national organization to become the Wisconsin Association for Home and Community Education. Membership was open to all interested individuals, but chiefly consisted of women. The collection primarily contains organizational records, activity products, and scrapbooks.

Abstract: Files relating to the Arts Challenge Initiative Program which was created by the State Legislature under Acts 27 and 339 in 1989, and administered by the Board. This program provides grants to arts organizations and local arts agencies in one of three categories as an incentive for increasing or sustaining the applicants' private sector income. Files consist of the organization's application and supporting materials, grant denial or award notification letter, organizational budget work sheets and other fiscal-related documentation, grant agreement, final report form, history, policy decisions, staff research, and communication involving staff and members of the Board.
