Abstract: Statistical reports of property values submitted to county boards and to the Department of Revenue, Bureau of Property Tax by the supervisors of assessments listing for each assessment district the aggregate value of assessment and recommended full value for all classes of residential, manufacturing, mercantile, swamp, and timber real property; and for such personal property as cattle, sheep, swine, merchants' and manufacturers' stocks, leaf tobacco, logs, timber, steamboats, launches, public utilities, and jewelry.

Abstract: Incomplete records of the Polar Bear Association of World War II, a national association of veterans of the 339th Regimental Combat Team, 85th Division, collected by Ret. Lt. Col. Charles C. Isely, one of the group's founders. The collection consists of routine organizational records, particularly correspondence and bulletins informing members of upcoming reunions. Also included are some materials of another organization, the 339th Infantry Association, which was formed before the Polar Bear Association and later became a part of it. There are a few personal papers of Isely and small amounts of memorabilia and related World War I and World War II materials. The photographs document scenes from Russia during the Combat Team's service during World War I, from its service in Italy during World War II, and the Association's reunions.

Abstract: Papers, primarily dated from 1895 to 1958, of Albert and Flora Ellinger, manufacturing entrepreneurs of Chicago, Illinois and Racine and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Included are personal and business papers which provide information on the economic, political, and social milieus in which they lived. Business records are incomplete, documenting well only the Michigan Avenue Syndicate, a Chicago real estate holding company. The collection reflects the Ellingers' work together prior to their 1916 marriage; Flora Ellinger's “rich aunt” relationship with her family; occasional involvement by Albert with Wisconsin's Progressive Republicans; and Flora's patented inventions. Family photographs, business photographs, and drawings are also included. Prominent correspondents include George Brandies, Arthur Brisbane, Henry Allen Cooper, Oscar Fritz, Henry Hart, William Holabird, Francis McGovern, Charles Netcher Jr., Townsend Netcher, Mollie Netcher Neuberger, and John C. Ruettinger. The corporation papers concern A. Ellinger and Company, Badger Manufacturing, the Boston Store, Espenhain Dry Goods Company, Hofmeister Woolen Mills, Johnson Combined Pressing and Refinishing Iron Company, and Regnille Tool and Engineering Company.

Abstract: Collection contains records created by the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) participants in the Wisconsin Native American Languages Project (WNALP), an effort to teach Native-American children and adults the native languages and traditions of the Menominee, Ojibwe, Oneida, Potawatomi, and Ho-Chunk. The collection includes audio recordings, alphabet and syllable books, handouts, self-tests, songs, stories, student cards, and writing and reading lessons, and worksheets. For each language, there are lexicons or vocabularies. The vocabularies are presented in a bi-lingual format on note cards. The largest group of materials can be found for the Menominee and Ojibwe languages. The Menominee and Ho-Chunk records include the notebooks of Ken Miner, a Menominee linguistic specialist hired by the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee as part of a sub-contract made with the Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council. The Menominee records include a complete copy of Leonard Bloomfield's lexicon, as well indexes to his work.

The collection contains audio recordings created as part of the project. Most of the tapes are recordings of Menominee, Ojibwe, Oneida, and Ho-Chunk words and phrases. Some tapes include complete stories or conversations of the speakers. English translations are provided on many, but not all, of the tapes.
