Scope and Content Note

The Pewaukee Clerk's Registers of Marriage, 1907-1943, consist of certificates for marriages taking place in Pewaukee. Additional Marriage Certificates, 1919-1943, include certificates for marriages taking place outside of Pewaukee, when at least one partner resided in Pewaukee.

Burial records consist primarily of Burial Permits and financial records. Burial permits, 1952-1968, were issued by the secretary of Forest Hill Cemetery to cemeteries in or near Pewaukee and include the cause of death. A Forest Hill Cemetery index provides a partial index for the two Perpetual Care Ledgers, circa 1932-1958 and circa 1936-1960. Page numbers in the Cemetery Index refer to account numbers listed in the Perpetual Care Ledgers, but do not indicate in which ledger each account number can be found. The Perpetual Care Ledgers are organized alphabetically by last name (probably of the owner rather than the deceased), include plot locations, and cover overlapping years. The ledgers contain additional names not included in the index. Municipal Charges compares typical cemetery costs in several Wisconsin municipalities in 1955. Plats of Survey (undated) provide a property description and map of Forest Hill Cemetery.

Burial records also include a Record of Internments, circa 1900-1919, from Forest Hill Cemetery, organized alphabetically by name of deceased and includes the cause of death.

The first Perpetual Care Ledger, circa 1932-1958, also includes records of bonds held in trust. Some duplicate information is recorded in the Bonds & Trust Funds Ledger, circa 1940-1953, but the ledger provides additional details about the purchase of Forest Hill Cemetery bonds that are not included in the Perpetual Care Ledger.

The Village Treasurer's Account Book, 1887-1913, includes records of expenditures authorized by the Village of Pewaukee and provides dates and amounts of transactions, and to whom the money was paid and for what purpose.
