Abstract:
Records of a fellowship club for boys organized by teacher Kate Scritsmier for the boys of her Sunday school class at the First Congregational Church, Menomonie, Wis. Organized informally in 1904, the Scritsmier Club became more formally constituted in 1913. Members enjoyed informal gatherings and activities such as games, stories, singing, father and son banquets, illustrated lectures, films, scouting, participation in various church activities, and an annual dinner meeting always held on the last Saturday night of the year. The bulk of the collection is incoming correspondence from club members who had left Menomonie. Of particular note are the letters written by those serving overseas during World War I. In addition, the collection includes bulletins (which contain club history, lists of members, etc.); financial materials; letters from Kate Scritsmier while she was away from Menomonie; clippings and articles; membership lists; newsletters; and additional files concerning various club actitivies. There is also one folder about Kate Scritsmier's participation in the suffrage movement.
