Part 1 (1987/023): Original Collection, 1983-1986 8.4 cubic feet (8 record center cartons and 1 archives box) : Records, 1983-1986, of the Governor's Advisory Council on Judicial Selection, which was formed by Governor Earl to handle the appointment of judges. Included are general administrative records of the Council, including correspondence, newspaper clippings, meeting minutes, and information on the selection process; and files on appointments of circuit court and Court of Appeals judgeships, including letters of resignation from judges stepping down, letters from candidates expressing interest, candidate applications, questionnaires and writing samples, letters of recommendation submitted on behalf of candidates, and copies of letters from legal counsel staff acknowledging that materials were received. : Appointment files are organized alphabetically by the county where the appointment was made, with each candidate's materials foldered separately.
