Abstract:
Materials related to trade promotion of Wisconsin's dairy industry, including purpose of promotion and promotion summary from the state Marketing Division. This series pertains to activities authorized by Section 93.42 Wisconsin Statutes, Center for International Agribusiness Marketing. Each file contains correspondence, notes, and financial information about trips to dairy expositions that staff from the Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection (DATCP) attended. For a few years, there is also information about international speakers brought by DATCP for the World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wisconsin.

The sound cassette is a 2001 radio spot about taste testing.

Scope and Content Note: A survey of agribusiness in Wisconsin with a focus on modern science's influence on agriculture over the fifty years preceding the making of the film. The film covers modern forestry practices including disease control and the use of commercial nurseries. It also looks at the production of sweet corn, green peas, potatoes, lettuce, apples, cherries, and cranberries including the use of equipment to harvest crops, the use of fertilizers and pesticides, processing and packing facilities, transportation, and marketing. There is a brief survey of the beef and pork industry.

Only if You Eat: the Story of Wisconsin Agribusiness and the Central Public Livestock Market, undated
Physical Description: 16 mm, color, 24 minutes 
Scope and Content Note: A survey of agribusiness in Wisconsin with a focus on the meat industry. The film covers raining pigs and calves to market weight and size, feeding operations, “finishing plants,” meat packing plants, processed meat distribution, and marketing. Also discussed is the byproduct market including tallow, soap, fertilizer, and leather products. Featured is the Milwaukee Livestock Exchange including a description of its operations, mock negotiations between livestock owners and salesmen, and a summary of its accounting practices.
