Abstract:

Records, mainly 1984-1988, of the committee that advised the Wisconsin representative to the Midwest Interstate Low-Level Radioactive Waste Commission, the body responsible for assuring the availability of disposal capacity for low-level radioactive wastes generated within the boundaries of the member states, as required by the Federal Low-Level Radioactive Waste Policy Act. The Wisconsin committee, originally known as the Ad Hoc Radiation Waste Disposal Committee, was created by Executive Order No. 3 by Governor Anthony Earl in 1981. In 1984 Executive Order No. 66 renamed the committee. It ceased to exist in 1990 when its responsibilities were assumed by the Low-Level Radioactive Waste Council. The records include correspondence, reports, information on the Midwest Regional Management Plan, and minutes of the committee, its predecessor, the Ad Hoc Radioactive Waste Disposal Committee, and the Midwest Interstate Low-Level Radioactive Waste Commission.
