Abstract:
Environmental impact studies regarding the proposed Exxon Corporation mine at Crandon, Wisconsin, that were distributed to the public as part of the review process. Included are the 1985 environmental impact report submitted by Exxon, supplementary consultants reports, comments by DNR and response from Exxon, hearing transcripts of Exxon witnesses before the Division of Hearings and Appeals, maps, DNR's final 1986 environmental report, and letters of transmittal prepared by staff of the Bureau of Environmental Analysis and Review. Also included are some additional consultant's reports that may not have been distributed to the public; the provenance of these reports is unknown. A list of consultant reports is included in this finding aid as an appendix.

Administrative/Restriction Information
Acquisition Information

This set of Crandon records was originally supplied by the DNR to the Brown County Public Library who later transferred it to the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. UW-GB in turn offered it to the State Historical Society of Wisconsin. At that time the donor requested that the materials be publicly accessible in the area. Because Vilas County is not part of the Green Bay ARC region, the series was transferred to the Northern Center ARC in order to comply with the donor's wishes.
