District No. 7 comprised the following counties: Florence, Forest, Iron, Langlade, Lincoln, Oneida, Price, and Vilas.

Biography/History
The Highway Commission was created in 1911. With the reorganization of state government agencies in 1967, the Highway Commission was placed under the newly created Department of Transportation. The Division of Highways was a distinct entity within the Department of Transportation and exercised its powers independently of the department head except for budgeting program, coordination, and related management functions. It was responsible for all matter pertaining to the expenditure of state and federal funds for the design, construction, and improvement of highways. In 1979 the Division of Highways became the Division of Highways and Transportation Facilities. In 1985 it merged with the Division of Transportation Districts to become the Division of Highways and Transportation Services. The Division of Highways and Transportation Services coordinates and provides direction in the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of the State Trunk Highway System and the Federal Aid System of Highways and other departmental facilities programs.
Scope and Content Note
This series is arranged numerically by reel and survey book number. This order is also roughly chronological. A paper index to the microfilm reels is located in Box 1. This reel list provides summary data on the contents of each survey book by county and locality, date, and type of work performed. Reels 1-85 hold survey book volumes 214 to 8901. Reels 85-105 hold additional surveys located in volumes described as LHB's (Large Hard Books) and these are numbered 1-404. The books are not numbered sequentially, and correspondingly, there are numerous gaps. These records were microfilmed by the Division of Highways and Transportation Services and the resulting film corresponds only to the incomplete survey records in their possession at the time of filming.
