Abstract:
Records, 1934-1948 (bulk 1934-1939), including correspondence, applications, and reports concerning the administration of the Works Progress Administration (WPA) and other federal relief agency projects in Wisconsin. In addition to relief work projects in local communities, the correspondence relates to state planning projects undertaken by the State Planning Board itself in conjunction with the National Resources Committee. Included are photographs of WPA projects and 1937 exhibition of WPA handicrafts. Also included are WPA overview reports and information on specific projects such as flood control, land liming, water pollution, and woodland inventory.

Physical Description: 1.4 c.f. (1 record center carton and 1 archives box) and 97 photographs 
Scope and Content Note: Correspondence (mainly 1935-1939), applications, and reports concerning the administration of WPA and other federal relief agency projects in Wisconsin. The majority of the correspondence is that of M.W. Torkelson of the State Planning Board who exercised overall supervision of Works Progress Administration projects in Wisconsin. Included are photographs of WPA projects and 1937 exhibition of WPA handicrafts. The file also contains a large file of applications and extension applications for WPA projects.
