Abstract:
Photographs of members of the Black community in Cheyenne Valley, Vernon County, Wisconsin, circa 1875-1975, one of the two Wisconsin farming communities settled by migrant Blacks. Included are images related to the Shivers, Bass, Owens, Revels, Barton, and Arms families as well as several images of the Eastman school and its pupils. The images were collected by Zachary Cooper while working on his book Black Settlers of Rural Wisconsin.
