Abstract:
Commemorative rosters for various Wisconsin Civil War military units collected by the State Historical Society over time. The rosters are mainly printed on standard decorative forms, although some are hand-lettered and painted. Most are for individual companies, with a few for entire regiments or for field and staff officers only. There are also several for non-Wisconsin units such as the 36th Regiment (U.S. Colored Troops). The rosters list the officers, men, and often the history and record of the unit, and include company nicknames and occasional photographic portraits. They are arranged by branch of the Army, and thereunder by regiment and company. There are copy negatives (indicated by a negative number on the back of the item) available in the Visual Materials Archive for some of the rosters.
