Biography/History
Wetlands for Wildlife, Inc. was founded on October 12, 1960, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as a non-profit, charitable organization with national scope. The purpose of the corporation was “to solicit funds to acquire suitable wetlands, which will be transferred to federal or state agencies for exclusively public purpose to maintain and manage, to provide breeding, rearing, growing and holding or wintering spots for waterfowl, birds, fish, deer and fur-bearing animals, flowers, trees, shrubs, aquatic vegetation and other wildlife benefits that may occur.”
The founders of Wetlands for Wildlife included Ben L. Boalt of Cedarburg, William Frankfurth of Wauwatosa, Owen J. Gromme of Milwaukee, Arthur Molstad of Milwaukee, and Richard C. Bonner of Grafton.
