Abstract:
Records of a local chapter of the Freedom Democratic Party of Meridian, Mississippi, relating to the Council of Federated Organizations (COFO), the Student Non-violent Co-ordinating Committee (SNCC), Congress of Racial Equality (CORE), Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), and National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), as a co-ordinator of projects sponsored by these organizations. The papers contain correspondence, memos, reports, affidavits, minutes and telephone log concerning the Freedom Registration project, the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party, the Meridian Community Center, local boycotts, and incidents of intimidation including the disappearance and deaths of Michael Schwerner, Andrew Goodman, and James Chaney who were connected with the Meridian office.
