Abstract:
Records of the Emergency Committee to Defend Human and Legal Rights of Political Prisoners, a support group for the Resistance Conspiracy Six (Alan Berkman, Tim Blunk, Marilyn Buck, Linda Evans, Susan Rosenberg, and Laura Whitehorn), all long-time political activists who were charged with conspiracy in connection with the 1983 bombing of the U.S. Capitol, a protest against the invasion of Grenada. Although the government admitted it had no evidence linking these specific people to the bombing, the six were convicted and sentenced to prison terms. The records document the Resistance Conspiracy case, the legal tactics used by the prosecution, the individuals involved and their philosophy, and the revolutionary network, especially the women’s and radical lesbian component of it. Included is correspondence, position papers, statements, flyers, programs, photographs, posters, original artwork, stickers, press kits, clippings, petitions, interviews with the six, and statements by other political prisoners.

Note:

The videorecordings in this collection are also being cataloged individually.
