Abstract:
Papers of Merlin Hull, a Wisconsin politician and newspaper editor-publisher, consisting of chronologically-arranged correspondence which relate to his career as assemblyman, 1909-1909; secretary of state, 1917-1921; and congressman, 1929-1931 and 1934-1953; and to his operation of the Jackson County Banner-Journal. A remarkably complete set of business records (1856-1926) relate to the operation of the Banner prior to its consolidation with Hull's Journal. Miscellaneous materials include minutes of the Joint Committee on Finance and the State Board of Public Affairs and political material from Hull's campaigns in 1914 and 1916. Also includes photographs from his political career as well as some family photographs.
