Abstract:
Papers of Elizabeth Thérèse Fisher Baird including correspondence, land records, and newspaper articles written by Baird. The correspondence contains letters from Baird to the Waring family discussing life in and around Green Bay from 1869-1876 including a letter written after the Peshtigo Fire. The newspaper articles were from a series entitled "O-De-Jit-Wa-Win-Wing ---- Contes du Tempes Passe" published in the Green Bay State Gazette, recounting her life on Mackinac Island, Michigan and in early territorial Wisconsin. The legal records include a 1795 pension record, an indenture certificate and other legal land documents. Also includes letters in German from C.A.L. Tanks while in Fort Howard to his sister Mrs. Otto Tanks from 1875 to 1888.
