Abstract:
Papers of Elisha Morrow, an early resident of Green Bay, Wisconsin, and receiver for the U.S. Land Office, consisting of correspondence between Morrow and Maria Bemis (whom he eventually married), Sarah Stevens, and other miscellaneous correspondence. Also included is a letter by John Mills Smith, who traveled with Elisha Morrow, detailing his first impressions of Wisconsin (1854) and a letter from Eleazer Holmes Ellis to Morrow seeking housing for several French travelers (1856). Later correspondence consists of letters of condolence to Elisha's daughter Helen after his death (1898) and other miscellaneous family correspondence, principally to Helen.
